Born of a common interest for Celtic music, this quatuor explores the different aspects and origins of this
musical movement by drawing from the vast repertoire and folklore of Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Spain and Quebec.
Not to mention a few originals combining numerous influences. Stemming from the word Avel which means
"gust of wind" in Breton Gaelic, Aveladeen is a neologism reminiscent of "the mythic City of Winds."
Thanks to the winds, melodies can express a wide range of emotions, all of which takes form with
the help of string instruments : classical and acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro and banjo
which color and magnify the melody.
Percussion adds spice to the music : bodhran, tambourine and ganza carry us to lands outside
the Celtic world. Aveladeen is also a gust of wind inasmuch as its form and genre leave room
for improvisation in a blend of jazz, Arabic, Latin, Jewish and Eastern European influence.
